Michael Alexander

Michael has been at the forefront of innovation in American Aromatherapy. His interests and concerns with aromatherapy practice have focused chiefly on two subjects: essential oil quality control issues and medical therapeutic use of essential oils. He believes the two issues of quality control and efficacy to be inseparable.

Michael began in 1989 the first analytical investigation of essential oils used for aromatherapy in America, by investigating available products and finding very few pure essential oils’ specimens. He introduced this finding at the AATA Conference in Santa Monica in April 1990, only to be rebuffed by the so-called European pioneers as “the man who knew too much” or “the man from nowhere.” At the time no one even knew enough to explain what exactly an essential oil was, much less what a chemical profile of one was about. Today it is common knowledge.
Michael’s Whole Spectrum product line was the first aromatherapy company to use analytical testing of essential oils with world renowned chemist and Doctor Srivas R. Srinivas, author of “The Atlas of Essential Oils” and holder of several doctorates. Michael’s clinical training was at the hands of Galina Lisin, a renowned international speaker, holistic medical practitioner and naturalized American from Odessa, Ukraine.
Michael’s innovations and achievements in the aromatherapy business have been numerous: first he initiated the standards of quality control for essential oils used in America aromatherapy; then he provided gas chromatographic biochemical profiles to his customers, again he single-handedly changed the landscape of the nebulizer diffuser business worldwide by providing low cost glass nebulizers and diffuser packages; simultaneously he designed, developed and had manufactured the innovative Caroma™ automobile dashboard diffuser.
Over the years Michael has also taken the time to author many articles on medical aromatherapy and the practice of the essential oil industry, having been published in all aromatherapy journals in existence since 1990. In 2000 his first major work: How Aromatherapy Works: Synthetic & Efficacious Pathways of Essential Oils in the Human Physiology, Principles in Olfaction, Volume I, was peer reviewed and published to critical acclaim. His newest effort is in trying to establish medical aromatherapy through continuing educational promotion via Aromatherapy Conference Tours in major metro areas around the United States. www.aromatherapyconferencetours.com & www.wholespectrum.biz
