Since that time Michael has trained with many leading teachers in aromatherapy and has personally trained over 15,000 students and has over 7,500 hours of teaching experience. He is the president of Los Angeles based Laboratory of Flowers, a company specializing in therapeutic grade essential oils and related products for treatments. Michael teaches in Japan, Hong Kong, Canada, New York, and Mexico. Michael splits his time between teaching, consulting, writing, product development, intuitive aromatic readings and essential oil research. He teaches a five day certification course world wide in addition to specialty classes and workshops. He is the author of two books on aromatherapy as well as several aromatherapy home study courses, including a 300 hour diploma course and teacher training program.

In addition, Michael offers aromatherapy residential programs and specialty training's to specific groups. He also offers customized and pre-formulated products for specific conditions that include Restorative Therapy and Chi Massage. His latest interest is combining the emotional and spiritual aspects of healing within an aromatic model combined with personal growth and integration. He has presented this groundbreaking work to the Inner Search Foundation Healing School in Virginia since 2001-2005 as well as in New York at the New York Aromatic Healing School, from 2002 to 2005. In his role as an instructor and lecturer, Scholes has become a leading spokesperson for aromatherapy in America often consulting with large corporations. His knowledge of aromatherapy is sought after for his skill as a master blender.
